Friday Fences

I saw this adorable picket fence by a gazebo and pond.  This is a brand new housing development, but I really like how they have reverted to designing a community, not just rows of houses.  These homes have front porches that face each other and garages in the back, out of the way.  They have communal green spaces and streets wide enough for kids to ride their bikes without being in the way of traffic.  What a great way to bring neighborhoods back into fashion.

If I were ever going to live in a 'neighborhood' again I want it to be like this.

yes! I love this trend! There are a few neighborhoods in and around my town like this and I love the idea. Except the whole garage in alleyway freaks me out - it feels less safe to me.

Someone obviously takes great pride in that fence. There's probably not a paint blister anywhere!

The white picket fence has gone down in history as a great look. It is still true. B

You're right--it looks like an honest to goodness neighborhood that will age well because people will enjoy living there. We need more of this kind of community planning.

I grew up in Wisconsin where we sat on our front porches well into the evening on summer nights, one of my favorite memories.

What a fantastic idea for a community, someone has really given the layout a lot of thought.

The little picket fence is perfect.
